Feature Series – Part 2
This installment features Ed Sheeran’s 2021 song, “Bad Habits,” released as a single and from the album “=.” While the critics were not overly enthused with this song, the public and his fans appeared to like it, as it charted fairly well. It is classified as a dance-pop – synth-pop song. There is also a gnarly “official video” for the song, which in many ways echoes Michael Jackson’s Thriller video. I decided not to use that particular video here as I find it too distracting. Instead, you will find a live performance of Sheeran with his acoustic guitar and his trusty loop station.
PMJ’s cover version is done in a vintage 1930s style. It features Thor Jensen (guitar), Jared Manzo (bass), Roger Ross (drums), and Scott Bradlee (piano). Special guest on vocals and banjo is Ashley Campbell, who just happens to be the very talented daughter of Glen Campbell. I have listened to this cover many times and it just keeps getting better. Of particular note is Campbell’s banjo solo. It was recorded on April 27, 2023

Can’t say as I ever heard the original, like the cover though!
Wow, they take the song in a whole different direction! What a great ensemble band, and Ashley Campbell is terrific.
They sure do. I know I have featured them a lot, but I can’t help myself! She is a great talent.
Very talented, both of them. Just don’t much care for this song.
