Welcome to the first installment (post) for this sub-page! What follows here, and will soon follow, on the other sub-pages is all explained on Quadzilla Spins – “I Got the Music In Me,” so if you haven’t seen that page, check it out! I have, over the past few years, created over 100 of these spinning playlists and have enough music saved for at least another 100 or more. Yes, I have listened to a great deal of music and have spent a ridiculous amount of time curating these lists to suit my spinning needs. Yay, retirement! While the order of the songs is important for the way I like to spin, you can always re-order them any way you like.
Here is what to expect from these lists. While they pull from a wide variety of musical styles, from gospel to electronic dance music (EDM) and everything in between, there is definitely an over-representation of dance and a wide variety of different electronic music. There is a reason for this. When spinning for exercise, there are two important aspects of a good spin: tempo and resistance. For me, the best music for tempo are songs that have a very prominent rhythm, in most cases provided by thumping drums (percussion) and bass, which is the cornerstone of much dance and electronic music. Although I have never been to a rave, the footage I have seen of them depicts frenzied youth gyrating to the beat and working up a sweat. So why not take that energy-stimulating music and get a workout, at home, and without having to take any ecstasy?
The resistance you dial up to make the spinning harder is most often saved for songs with a slower tempo, which is very similar to cycling up a big hill. The quicker tempo songs emulate cycling on a flat surface, and then there is a whole range of tempos in between these two. Of course, if you are not into spinning, download a few of the playlists and you will be all set for the next rave/dance party you host or, if you’re feeling lethargic and you need an energy boost, these playlists will do the trick!
Each playlist averages eight song; there are some with as few as six, and some with as many as ten, but these are a rarity. This is by design, as I prefer to have longer songs to keep the workout less frenetic by having to switch cadence too often. For example, for this first playlist, which is just under 45 minutes, there are two songs over seven minutes long, and two songs under four minutes, and if pressed to come up with the average length of songs across all the playlists, it would be around five and a half minutes, which is what this one is.
And now for the music.
The first list is a fitting example to what I have explained above, with a mix of up-tempo and slower songs. Although I endeavor not to feature the same artist more than once in any playlist, there will be exceptions. Two artists that I rely on often are in this list: Sonny Fedora and Tiésto. Fedora is an Australian born, London-based house music DJ and producer. He has been active since 2007 and is still going strong today. He has had multiple tours and has released five albums to date. For more info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonny_Fodera Tijs Michiel Verwest, known professional as Tiésto, is a Dutch DJ and record producer. He is regarded the “Godfather of EDM” by many. He has released seven studio albums and has collaborated with many other artists. For more info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ti%C3%ABsto
The playlist below is from Apple Music and gives you a sampling of each song. If you are an Apple Music subscriber, and are logged in, you will have access to the complete songs. If not, just hit the sign in button on the top right corner. If you have another music subscription, just load up the titles, artists, etc. in whatever service you use for your music pleasure and create your own playlist. From time to time, there will be songs that are no longer supported by Apple, so they will not load or play. If that happens when you download a list, let me know and I will replace the song and update the post.
Enjoy!

You go buddy! For some reason the playlist didn’t show up at the end but if you click through to your site it’s there!
Thanks Randy. I will have to check that out.
I’m a big fan of EDM, so your spinning playlists will be right up my alley! “Dangerous” by Big Data feat. Joywave is one of my faves from the mid 2010s. The Oliver remix is pretty cool.
Glad to hear that! There are definitely more on the way.
